RESCUED greyhounds have kicked-off their support for England as the World Cup gets under way.

Donning England football shirts, bandanas and flags, dogs from the Greyhound Rescue West of England have been out throughout the charity’s southern and western regions showing support for the national team while at the same time hoping to catch the eye of potential new owners who can offer them a loving home.

They are just a few of the retired and unwanted greyhounds currently in the charity’s.

The charity is the UK’s largest independent greyhound and lurcher rescue charity and its West of England area includes Salisbury and south Wiltshire, where over the last few years, dozens of greyhounds have been found loving homes.

The charity re-homes about 800 dogs a year as more and more people discover what ideal pets they make, being gentle, affectionate and, contrary to popular belief, requiring little exercise, preferring to spend their time at home sleeping and relaxing.

Many can live with other dogs and cats and are suitable for older people as they like to walk slowly and they are gentle with children.
