THE seventh and final High Post Golf Club Charity day raised over £7,500 for CLIC Sargent and the Alzheimer’s Society.
A perfect day’s weather made for some excellent golf from the 19 hopeful teams, with the eventual winners the colourful Cunning Planners team, lead by captain John Peters.
Mr Peters, who started the charity days in 2003, thanked everyone who has contributed to the event.
"We are amazed by the generous contributions from many businesses in our community, especially at a time of economic instability,” he said.
Event Chairman Jon Budden had a triple celebration, the event has now raised in excess of £100,000 for local charities, he himself has also increased his personal tally of money raised for charity to over £100,000, and he was also on the winning team.
He said: “What a day and what a seven years, I think everyone who played is thrilled to see so many local causes benefiting from this event, I would especially like to thank my wife Donna and all those who have supported this event".
In second place was the team of VES Andover Ltd, captained by local Jamega Tour and Euro Pro Tour Professional Mark Searle.
One of the main events was a 60ft putting challenge which was won by 16-year-old Jordan Higgs, one of High Post's rising stars.
A barbecue was held on the 12th tee, with food supplied by Barry Frizzell of Britford Farm Shop.
The evening finished with an auction, with the main lot being a driver signed by club member and Eurporean Tour player Oliver Fisher, which fetched £550.
