A WALK will be held later this month to give people an insight into the National Trust’s role putting ploughed land back into the insect-rich chalk grasslands around Stonehenge.

The free walk from Countess Farm just north of Countess roundabout on the A345 near Amesbury takes place from 3pm until 5.30pm on June27.

The event is being held as part of celebrations taking place nationwide for the Royal Entomological Society’s National Insect Week from June 21 to 27.

National Insect Week celebrates the Earth’s estimated one million different insect species and the Royal Entomological Society is holding hundreds of insect-inspired events up and down the country.

An interactive website www.nationalinsectweek.co.uk will give visitors all the information they need to get involved, from finding out more about events taking place locally to a photography competition and taking part in insect surveys.

Booking for the walk is advisable. Call 01980 664780.
