A DATA centre that will bring about 150 jobs to Amesbury has been given planning permission.
The 8.7 acre site is on the south western edge of Solstice Park, to the north of the Beverley Hills mobile home park.
There will be three climate-controlled computer halls with their own back-up generators to ensure a continuous power supply.
The development has been designed to allow occupation by either a single company or three separate ones.
It will include 147 parking spaces and a footpath link to Porton Road.
Wiltshire Council’s strategic planning committee approved the application by the Amesbury Property Group.
Data centres are principally used by large global organisations such as banks, insurance or credit card companies for the secure storage of sensitive information.
There are hopes that the development could encourage other high-tech businesses to move to the park.
