HUNGRY children from Gomeldon Primary School were fed royally this Christmas, as the school employed the catering services of the Crown Inn at Cholderton for a special festive feast.
The school no longer offers cooked meals on-site, but made use of the nearby Cholderton Village Hall in order to provide Christmas lunch for its students.
Ann White, the school’s admin officer, said: “At the moment we don’t have the facilities to prepare meals within the school, so the idea was to give the children the opportunity to have a Christmas lunch.
“I’ve had reports that it was very nice.”
Tim Clem, landlord of the Crown Inn, was responsible for organising the meal, which was served in two large sittings and featured roast turkey with all the trimmings followed by jam roly poly and custard.
“It was a good thing to do. It’s quite a nice Christmas story, and the kids loved it,” he said.
But did they eat their greens? “Yes,” said Mr Clem, “they ate it all and had lots of seconds.”
