FIREFIGHTERS will be out in force this Christmas, as they collect money for the Fire Fighters Charity.
Crews from Salisbury Fire Station will be in the city centre throughout the day on Monday and Tuesday, while Amesbury’s firefighters will be in the town centre on Wednesday from 9am to 4.30pm.
The Wilton collection will run on Christmas Eve from 8.30am to 1.30pm.
The Fire Fighters Charity offers support to fire service personnel and their families during times of injury or hardship, providing treatment and support to over 17,000 individuals each year.
The charity is reliant on donations from the general public and fire service community in order to raise the £9million a year it needs.
Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service’s Ian Rennie said: “This is a great opportunity for local people to meet their local fire crews.
"The firefighters will be delighted to speak to you during their collection about any aspect of your fire service and will also be very pleased to accept any donation people are able to make to this worthy cause in these difficult financial times.
“Firefighters are used to responding to other people who get into difficulties. By helping us raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity, you may be able to turn the tables and help fire fighters when they need it most.”
