WILTSHIRE residents said thank you to someone special on Saturday by baking a cake and taking part in a cake-a-thon in Amesbury.
The event, opened by town mayor Roger Fisher, was organised by BBC Wiltshire and aimed to celebrate the hidden baking talents of the county.
The only instructions were that the cakes had to be made for people to say thank you for something and for the design of the cakes to reflect the reason they were baked.
People taking part went to the Bowman Centre at Archers Gate, and members of the public were encouraged to go along and see the cakes on display.
BB Wiltshire presented Graham Seaman said: “We were really pleased with the response to this and the enthusiasm showed. We’ve also been touched by the stories that have emerged.
“One person made a cake for her son-in-law who’s currently serving in Afghanistan while another baked hers for a hospice for terminally ill babies.”
