A FESTIVE edition of the Coombe Bissett and Homington Express has been circulated, with the work of local schoolboy Jonathan Shaw on the front cover.

The nine-year-old won an annual competition to design the front of the Christmas publication, which is full of village news.

The community magazine was started 32 years ago by Reverend Westley Cole and has a circulation of about 300.

It raises money for village charities and organisations and every year the children at the village primary school are invited to submit drawings for the front cover of the Christmas edition.

More than 90 pupils entered the competition and their hard work was judged by the Right Reverend John Kirkham, an assistant bishop at Salisbury Cathedral who lives in Bishopstone.

Jonathan was the overall winner and the class winners were Luca Elsegood, Poppy Sladen, Harriet Gateley and Megan Solomons.
