YOUNG people in Amesbury donned their gloves and picked up their litter picking tools to help clean up two of the town’s parks.
The event, organised as part of Not In My Neighbourhood Week, targeted Harvard Way Park and Bonnymead Park, which both have problems with litter and graffiti.
Members of the neighbourhood policing team organised the event and mucked in alongside Stonehenge School pupils and representatives of the town council and Wiltshire Council.
PC Martin Phipps of Amesbury Police said he was pleased with how the day went and reported about 18 local youngsters helping out at one point.
“There was a good effort from them in terms of elbow grease and cleaning up the litter and graffiti,” he said. “Those who did help out will hopefully pass on the message to their peers not to mess up the area again.”
Harvard Way Park is a current priority for the neighbourhood policing team and PC Phipps said he had received positive feedback from local residents following the clean up.
