AN eight-year-old boy has raised more than £250 through a charity bring and buy sale he organised for this year’s mayor’s appeal.
Jonathan Baker set up the sale after watching his mother Linda, who is chairman of the appeal, arrange similar events in aid of Childrens Chance.
She set him the challenge over the summer holidays of organising his own event, and booked the Harnham Church Hall for him to hold it on October 26.
“It went really well,” said Mrs Baker. “We are very pleased. There was a lot of hard work on his part but he pulled it off.”
As well as the bring and buy sale, Jonathan also organised a table tennis competition against a player from Chalke Valley Tennis Club and a raffle with prizes solely for children.
There were also Childrens Chance Christmas cards on sale, which helped boost the profits.
