DAMERHAM residents gathered on Friday evening for the village’s annual firework display, which this year raised £600 for two charities.
This year the money went to the Damerham sports field fund and FunQuest, a local charity that provides events and facilities for children and young people in Damerham.
The event started with the opening of the children’s funfair followed by lighting of the traditional bonfire, made for the event by local farmer David Burrough.
The Friends of Western Downland School ran a tuck shop from the pavilion and also staged a Best Jack O’Lantern competition, which was won by Ellie Williams, a pupil in Year 2. Fordingbridge firefighters brought added excitement to the proceedings and received a huge cheer from the crowd as they drove a fire engine through the gates. Event manager Sophie White said: “It’s been an amazingly successful evening and I really want to thank everyone who came along.”
