A SPEEDING driver has been ordered to pay more than £6,000 after being caught doing 108mph on the A303.
Nigel Mallows, 55, of Fitzroy Road, London, was caught speeding at Woodbine Hill on May 6 last year by officers using a laser device.
Despite disputes during court hearings and evidence from expert witnesses, he was found guilty by Salisbury magistrates on October 7 and was fined £500 with more than £6,000 costs, as well as being disqualified from driving for 28 days.
Inspector Nick Elton, operations manager for the Wiltshire Police road policing unit, said: “This is a positive result and one which demonstrates how very seriously the courts take excess speed offences.
“Speed limits are put in place in order to reduce and prevent collisions. People who do exceed the posted speed limit risk not only their own lives but those of other road users.”
