VOLUNTEERS past and present gathered at a Salisbury day centre last week for the presentation of a prestigious award.
The Queens Award for Voluntary Service, which is the equivalent of an MBE, was presented to the Jo Benson Day Centre for the Physically Disabled in recognition of the work of the volunteers over the past 39 years and their contribution to the work of the centre.
John Bush, the Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire, presented the award to volunteer Dora Williams, who said she was honoured to receive the award on behalf of all the volunteers.
Founding trustees Professor Hugh Glanville and Lady Benson joined volunteers and members of the centre to celebrate the achievement, as well as Pam Light, who nominated the centre for the award.
