SALISBURY International Arts Festival and the city’s tourist information centre have been named as winners in the South West Tourism Excellence Awards.
The awards have been described as the highlight of the tourism calendar and recognise customer service, being accessible to all and top class facilities.
The tourist information centre has won a host of awards in recent years and the Arts Festival has been recognised for attracting more people to the city in the Tourism Event of the Year category.
Staff from both will be invited to an awards ceremony to be held in Devon on November 23, when they will discover if they have been given a gold or silver award.
The regional gold award winners will be put forward for VisitEngland’s, National Enjoy England Awards for Excellence 2010.
Alistair Handyside, chairman of South West Tourism, said: “Congratulations to the winners and finalists. Winning at the regional awards is a great achievement for any business especially more so in these economic times.
“These businesses have shown that customer care, staff training and continued investment have not faltered but have grown and they are committed to exceeding visitor expectations.”
