MAYOR of Fordingbridge Malcolm Connolly became a Beaver for the evening on Wednesday.
He joined the First Fordingbridge Beavers who had made their own mayoral chains to make him feel welcome.
The group is desperately in need of adult helpers and another adult leader, as Beaver leader Sarah Pollard explained.
“We’ve got a long waiting list of Beavers and its only me and one other leader,” she said.
The First Fordingbridge Beavers are having a Dr Who theme evening soon and celebrations are planned for Mickey Mouse’s birthday in November.
There are 18 Beavers, aged six to eight, and about 24 on the waiting list to join.
Sarah said: “If we had another adult leader we could invite some of the youngsters on the waiting list to join.”
The Beavers meet on Wednesdays from 6pm to 7.15pm in the First Fordingbridge Scout hall, which is behind the Salvation Army Hall in Fordingbridge High Street.
Anyone interested in becoming a leader or a helper can contact Sarah Pollard on 07786 658418 or at sarahpollard@hotmail.com.
