STAFF from Salisbury’s Specsavers store put on their lifejackets and waterproofs to raise £1,600 in a charity dragon boat race.
The 13 members of staff from the store in Catherine Street, took part in the event in Poole back in June and have been collecting donations from local residents since then for the Anthony Nolan Trust.
The trust is a leukaemia charity that recruits bone marrow and peripheral blood stem cell donors, as well as carrying out pioneering research to help bone marrow transplants become more effective.
Store manager Frances Cooper said: “We love to get out and about as a team and do something different, and this was one of the most enjoyable activities we have tried.
“We weren’t taking the competition to seriously, more than anything we wanted to have fun. We were thrilled to have raised so much for such a worthy cause in the process.”
Specsavers customers can still pledge donations to the store by calling 01722 412255.
