A GROUP of Guides from Salisbury have devoted much of their time over the past two weeks to helping sort mountains of essentials for The Trussell Trust charity.
The 18 girls from the 10th Salisbury Guide unit, formed three years ago, completed two nights of sorting and made up nearly one and a half tonnes of food packages, earning each Guide their annual challenge badge.
“The girls really enjoy themselves, mucking in and show great spirit with all their efforts,” said their leader Fiona Richards.
The Trussell Trust supplies food boxes to thousands of people in need across south Wiltshire every year.
Mark Ward, Salisbury Foodbank manager, said: “The Salisbury public have been very generous this harvest so a bit of extra help from the Guides could not have come at a better time.
“The Trust is so grateful to the Guides and to the community as a whole who have given so much to help people in crisis this harvest.”
