CHILDREN, parents, pensioners and running club members pulled on their running shoes on Sunday to take part in the Chalke Valley Challenge.
More than 200 runners ran either 3k, 5k or 10k around Broad Chalke, Fyfield Bavant and Bowerchalke to raise funds for Broad Chalke Primary School.
The event was initially set up four years ago to raise money to help build a new school but proved so popular it became an annual event. It is now organised by parent Nick Barker and hosted by Friends of Broad Chalke Primary School. The funds from this year’s event will help provide the children with additional ICT equipment.
The winner of the 10k run was Kevin Tilley from City of Salisbury Athletic and Running Club, who completed the race in 37.11 minutes. The first woman over the line was Beverley Hards, whose time was 42.16. The winner of the 3k race was eight-year-old Tommy Lyons from Bishopstone.
This year Westover’s Nissan and Toyota dealerships in Salisbury sponsored the event, as well as long-term sponsor Discover Adventure, based in Coombe Bissett.
