A TANDEM skydive in support of Salisbury and District Citizens Advice Bureau has successfully raised more than £1,000.
The jump by Carl Wheeler, the son of a member of staff at the service, was part of the bureau’s 70th anniversary celebrations.
He said: “I was really excited to take part in the skydive and it was great to have the chance to raise funds for such a wonderful, worthwhile organisation.”
Chief executive of Salisbury and District CAB, Kate Godfrey, said: “I’m very grateful to Carl for offering to jump for us, and to all those who sponsored him.
“We’re going to use the money to recruit and train more volunteer advisers, to help us to meet the high demand for our services.”
The service started life as an emergency war service and the first 200 bureaux on September 4, 1939.
Mr Wheeler’s jump is the latest in a number of local fundraising activities for the CAB, following on from a successful concert at the City Hall and a £1,000 donation from Salisbury Rotary Club.
Volunteers have also been running a bric-a-brac stall in the market and holding street collections.
