A TEAM of eight military policemen have recently completed the gruelling National Three Peaks Challenge, climbing the three highest peaks respectively in Wales, England and Scotland within 24 hours.
The team from 158 Provost Company, 3rd Regiment Royal Military Police, Bulford, successfully tackled Snowdon at 1085 metres, Scafell Pike at 978 metres and Ben Nevis at 1344 metres, within the day.
“We had planned out how we were going to do each route and had the vital support of two drivers to get us to each stage of the climb” said Corporal Steve Nicholson. “It was a demanding experience and a true test of fitness and teamwork, but a great way to build our stamina for the demands of a deployment.”
The team’s sweat and blisters have raised money for the charity Help for Heroes, but is not the end of their fundraising exploits. The next challenge for the soldiers from 158 Provost Company is set to be a football match against a Salisbury City XI at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium when they hope their extra fitness from the climbs will come in handy.
