A REVIEW and reduction of property owned by Wiltshire Council is set to save £85million over the next 25 years.
The council currently has about 95 administrative offices around the county, but is proposing to reduce that number to four main hubs, including Bourne Hill in Salisbury.
Cllr Toby Sturgis, portfolio holder for property, said: “We have too many buildings, many of which are in the wrong location and in disrepair and expensive to maintain.
“It makes sense to dispose of surplus properties and keep the ones that are sustainable and meet the needs of both customers and staff. This has involved us looking at options to better utilise space and provide more efficient ways of working.”
A report is going to the cabinet on October 20 when councillors will be asked to endorse the budget and timescales for the programme and decide how to dispose of assets.
Other hubs will be at Monkton Park in Chippenham, County Hall in Trowbridge and Browfort in Devizes.
