A NEW £3million depot facility at Salisbury train station was officially opened on Friday.
Salisbury MP Robert Key was among a number of guests who turned up for the official opening of South West Trains’ Salisbury Traincare depot.
He said: “Congratulations to South West Trains on making this new investment in Salisbury. This will benefit the travelling public, make rail travel more attractive and improve working conditions for the loyal rail staff of SWT in Salisbury.”
Work to improve the facilities started at the beginning of the year and has seen the completion of a new fuelling shed to help increase fuelling capacity at the depot. Another benefit is the introduction of additional facilities for removing toilet waste.
Depot manager Lisa Hindley said: “These new facilities will make a significant difference to the team at Salisbury depot, and will also help us to maintain our excellent track record of delivering reliable trains to our customers.”
