A NEW event aimed at boosting employment in the south Wiltshire region will be held at Salisbury Guildhall on November 5.

Job Seekers 2009 is being jointly organised by Wiltshire College and the Salisbury Journal and will be targeted at those already in work as well as young people only just beginning their careers.

Bill Browne, editor and publisher of Salisbury Newspapers, said: “The response to the event among local industry leaders and employers has been very positive. I believe people are beginning to look more optimistically towards 2010 and we aim to give any help we can at this important time.

“We are delighted to have Wiltshire College as partners with Job Seekers 2009. They have been working hard in these past couple of years to get to know local businesses and the people behind them. The important thing from their point of view is making sure the training they give matches the needs of the employers.

“The next step is matching prospective employees to these employers and this is where Job Seekers 2009 comes in. “It is also a marvellous opportunity for those people who already have jobs to see what other career options there are around.”

Wiltshire College will be hosting a selection of seminars including: ■Writing a CV to help you win the job you want ■Presentation skills ■Ensuring your interview makes an impact ■20 ways to shine Plus there will be image workshops available to ensure you present yourself well.

The event has four principal sponsors: QinetiQ, McDonald’s Salisbury, South Wiltshire Economic Partnership and Require Recruitment.

It is also supported by The Army and Jobcentreplus.
