A BLACK Galloway cow was killed after being hit by a vehicle last Tuesday at Newlands, Linwood Road. The accident happened at 8pm.

Half an hour later a pony was hit by another vehicle at Brook on the B3078, but could not be found afterwards.

At the same time another pony was hit at Burley Street and this one could not be found either.

On Thursday a black filly was involved in an accident elsewhere in the Forest and had to be destroyed.

A bay colt foal was left injured in a hit and run incident on Friday at Meadows Cross on the B3054. The animal was found at 10.30am and had to be destroyed.

A bay filly was also injured and had to be destroyed later the same day elsewhere in the Forest.

A reward of up to £1,000 is payable to anyone who provides information leading to the successful conviction of a driver responsible for failing to report an accident involving a commoner’s animal.

Several payments have been made under the scheme and the rules are available on request from the Verderers’ office.
