WILTSHIRE’S streets are cleaner than they have ever been before, according to the latest figures.
Wiltshire Council is regularly assessed and inspected to see how it is dealing with litter, fly posting and graffiti and the figures for April to July showed the county is cleaner than ever before and that Wiltshire is performing far better than the national average.
They work to keep the county clean by providing litter bins in public areas and having regular mechanical street sweeping and litter picking by hand. Areas where litter is a problem are visited more regularly to ensure cleanliness standards are maintained at the highest level.
Cllr Toby Sturgis, cabinet member for waste, property and environment, said: “It is good to know that Wiltshire is performing so well against these national indicators. We want to make sure that our neighbourhoods are the cleanest they can be and we will continue to work hard to keep the county at its best.
“Keeping Wiltshire clean is something everyone should be part of. I would urge people to do their bit by taking their litter home and reporting those who drop litter, fly tip, graffiti or fly post.”
