Old Sarum Castle is running a Christmas Adventure Quest.

Families are invited to join best friends Ellie and Jack on a scavenger hunt around the historic grounds, discovering the fascinating stories behind beloved Christmas traditions.

It will take place from Saturday, November 30 to Sunday, December 22.

There will be 12 festive stops filled with exciting activities and challenges and this self-led quest is free of charge, making it a great way to immerse yourself in the wonder of history and adventure.

Ella Harrison, Events Manager at English Heritage, said, “The Christmas Quest at Old Sarum is a wonderful opportunity for families to enjoy the fresh air and explore this remarkable historic site while celebrating the festive season together.

"Bundle up and gather clues as you learn about the origins of our cherished Christmas customs.”

In addition to the quest, visitors can climb to the top of Old Sarum for breathtaking views of Salisbury and its famous cathedral. You will be able to discover the medieval royal castle, lost to time, and stand where Salisbury’s original cathedral once stood.

There is also the chance to check out the castle’s shop for unique last-minute Christmas gifts. For those who prefer shopping from home, a variety of seasonal offerings are also available online.

You could also make a day of it by visiting Stonehenge and marvelling at the ancient stones and exploring the Neolithic houses and exhibitions.

Then after a busy day of exploration, visitors can warm up with a hot chocolate, soup, or a pasty at the café.

To book tickets for the Christmas Adventure Quest you can head to the English Heritage website and you can save 15 per cent by booking ahead.
