A DANCE studio that held classes for 39 years could be turned into flats.

Colton Dancing Academy moved from Fisherton Street to Park Street in 1985, but teachers and students said goodbye to the premises in July.

The family-run academy, led by Ellen Bath, has been based at the Barrington Centre in Bishopdown since September.

“We hope you can look back fondly on your memories of Colton Dancing Academy and Park Street Studios.”

Plans have now been submitted to convert 59a Park Street into six dwellings: four one-bedroom apartments and a pair of two-bedroom apartments.

There would be no on-site parking, and residents would not be entitled to street parking permits.  Cycle parking would be provided, and occupants would be able to purchase season tickets for the nearby College Street car park.

In a planning statement, applicant M&A Holding South says: “The development is proposed to be car free, with no onsite parking.

“The site is located just outside of the centre of Salisbury, in a sustainable location within easy walking distance of a large range of services, facilities and onward sustainable transport options.

“Given the type of housing proposed (small apartments with no family-sized units) and location, parking demand would be low.”
