A multi-award-winning hip-hop group are coming to Salisbury next month.
The Scribes are playing at the Winchester Gate on Friday, December 6.
The Scribes are a hip-hop act whose unique blend of beatboxing, off-the-cuff freestyling, crowd participation and genre-spanning music has created a critically acclaimed live show quite unlike any other on the scene today, with appeal ranging far beyond traditional hip-hop.
The free entry event on will be The Scribes' first performance in Salisbury since a huge summer for the group that included stand-out sets at Glastonbury Festival, Isle Of Wight, Boomtown, Latitude, Wireless and many more.
The Scribes band member and co-founder, Shaun Amos, said, "We love The Winchester Gate, it's a genuine independent music venue that's worked so hard to bring original live music to Salisbury and the crowd is so fun and friendly there, we're happy to be a small part of it."
The group have consistently proven to be an impressive and engaging live act with recent festival appearances and are proud winners of both the Exposure Music Award's "Best UK Urban Act" and the EatMusic Radio Award's "Best Live Act".
Another band member and co-founder, Jonny Steele, said, "We were inspired by a whole host of alternative hip-hop artists from the Def Jux and Rawkus records at the time but we listened to all genres."
The Scribes are hotly tipped as one to watch, recently signing with Stimulus Management, who has worked with the likes of Snoop Dogg, Cardi B and Busta Rhymes.
The three-man group have played at venues and festivals all over the world but Steele said, "We've had a lot of interesting gigs but for me, one of the most memorable would have to be playing at a scenic sun-kissed beach festival in Metaponto, Italy as thunder and lightning rolled over the horizon just as we started playing our set, it was picturesque."
Fans can enjoy a range of subjects in their music, with songs inspired by crowds, some political bits or even "a whole EP that's a narrative analogy for going through a big break-up".
The show at The Winchester Gate on Friday, December 6, will start at 19:30 and there is expected to be a big crowd.
Jonny Steele said, "We love the crowd down in Salisbury, they're up for a good time, love to be entertained and respond incredibly to an interactive live show like ours.
"We hope it reminds people why live shows are important and why listening to an artist at home pales in comparison to the live experience."
