A SALISBURY man has been banned from driving for a year after he stole a van and drove it without a license or insurance.
Dillon Gray, of Green Croft Street, took and drove the white Vauxhall on October 27. Court documents say the incident took place outside The Winchester Gate pub on Rampart Road.
Salisbury Magistrates' Court heard that Gray, 28, took the vehicle “without the consent of the owner or other lawful authority”, contrary to the Theft Act 1968.
Magistrates were also told that he “drove a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence” and without third-party insurance.
Gray pleaded guilty to all three offences when he appeared at the court on November 21, and he was sentenced on the same day.
He was issued with an “obligatory” 12-month disqualification from driving and was fined £40. Gray was also ordered to pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
His guilty plea was taken into consideration when he was sentenced.
