A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of a string of offences after a police chase that started on the A36 Southampton Road yesterday evening.
Shortly after 5.45pm, a Renault Clio failed to stop for police officers on the road. Police then pursued the car through Petersfinger, Laverstock, Ford and into Old Sarum.
The car eventually came to a stop on The Portway in Old Sarum and the occupants fled on foot.
Officers later found a 19-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, aggravated taking a motor vehicle without consent, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.
He remains in custody while enquiries continue.
Police have asked for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the vehicle or the fleeing occupants to contact them.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for witnesses for a police pursuit which started on the A36, Southampton Road, Salisbury yesterday evening (November 25).
“Just after 5:45pm a Renault Clio failed to stop for officers on the A36. The vehicle continued through Petersfinger, Laverstock, Ford and into Old Sarum.
“The car came to a stop on The Portway, Old Sarum, close to Sherbourne Drive, and occupants were seen to run away from the vehicle.
“Officers later located a 19-year-old male, and he was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, fail to stop for police, aggravated taking a motor vehicle without consent, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.
“The male remains in custody whilst enquiries continue.
“We are appealing for any dash cam footage/CCTV of the vehicle or persons making off from the vehicle.
