SHOPPERS can brave the wet and windy weather to visit Salisbury Charter Market tomorrow, but there will be some changes made to keep people safe.
The Met Office has issued a yellow rain weather warning for this weekend, and the service's website says wind speeds could exceed 40mph on Saturday.
Because of the forecast, Salisbury City Council, which runs the bi-weekly market, has said gazebos and other coverings will not be allowed.
A council spokesperson said: “We have been closely monitoring the weather forecast, and while the Charter Market will go ahead tomorrow, we’re making a few adjustments to prioritise everyone’s safety due to the strong gusts forecast for Saturday.
“Gazebos will not be permitted, only traders with hard structures (vehicles) may attend, and fruit and veg traders may attend and trade using tables only, without coverings.
“Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Stay safe, and we look forward to seeing you at the market!”
The Charter Market will be open from 8.40am until 4pm in Market Place.
The festive Gift Fayre, which opened today, will also be open between 10am and 7pm on Saturday and between 10am and 4pm on Sunday.
