A MAN in his 70s had died after a crash on Exeter Street this morning.
Wiltshire Police were called to the scene of a collision involving a pedestrian, who was near his van, and a car, shortly before 6am.
Specialist officers are investigating and have appealed for witnesses to come forward. No arrests have been made.
Exeter Street remains shut between St Ann Street and the Churchill Way roundabout.
A police spokesperson said: “A man in his 70s has sadly died following a road traffic collision in Salisbury City Centre this morning (November 22).
“The incident took place in Exeter Street shortly before 6am - involving a pedestrian who was near his van, and a car.
“The man’s next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this incredibly difficult time.
“Wiltshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Team are currently investigating the circumstances and are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have recorded dash cam footage.
“All involved remained at the scene and there have been no arrests.
“Please be aware of road closures in place on Exeter Street between St Ann Street and the Churchill Way roundabout
“Drivers should seek alternative routes and expect significant delays in the area - closures are likely to be in place for a number of hours.”
