A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted arson after a letter – which police say was “potentially on fire” – was pushed through a letterbox in a Wiltshire village.
The incident took place on Monday, November 18 in Zeals, which is just off the A303.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We have arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of attempted arson after a letter which was potentially on fire was pushed through a letterbox in Westfields, Zeals.
“No further damage is thought to have been caused. He has been bailed while enquiries continue.”
The incident came nine days after police arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of criminal damage and attempted criminal damage on the same street.
A resident said that arrest, which was made on November 9, came after the man allegedly attempted to set a car on fire and scrawled an offensive term on the bonnet.
