A MAN is in police custody after he was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting in Salisbury city centre this afternoon.
Police officers were outside the News Café and Waterstones, near the Old George Mall shopping centre, shortly before 1pm today to attend the incident.
Their vehicles were parked in a loading bay on New Canal when the arrest was made, and another car was parked around the corner on High Street.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We arrested a man in New Canal on suspicion of shoplifting at 12.48pm this afternoon (November 19). He remains in custody.”
