A community interest company is asking people to sponsor a laptop this Christmas.

Wiltshire Digital Drive (WDD) is hoping the public will support its mission to tackle digital poverty in the county by helping its Gift of Tech appeal.

The initiative provides essential digital access to young people and adults in need.

The community interest company says having access to a laptop helps people apply for jobs, manage finances, attend school and maintain social connections.

The appeal aims to raise £25,000, which will allow WDD to refurbish and redistribute 550 laptops across the region.

"By sponsoring a laptop this Christmas, supporters will be opening doors and creating opportunities for someone less fortunate than themselves.

"I appreciate how tough things are for everyone right now, but without support, I worry that we won’t be able to continue our work in the future."

The organisation has already distributed more than 3,400 devices free of charge to people in need across Wiltshire and neighbouring counties.

People can sponsor the refurbishment of one laptop for £45.
