A CHARITY that helps feed the hungry and homeless in Salisbury is seeking more volunteers to help it carry out its vital work.
ENCIRCLES provides more than 900 meals a month to people who would otherwise go without food by collecting surplus goods from local businesses.
The charity, which relies on public donations, welcomes everyone, but attendees to its food service must be over 18 for safeguarding reasons.
Chair Molly Fisher said: “No one in and around Salisbury need be hungry. No referral is required to attend our service and we do not means test. If you are hungry, you are welcome.”
The charity is looking for people with their own transport to help collect food from local businesses at the end of each day to drop off at the charity's refrigerated storage.
It is also seeking a kitchen lead who is available on Sunday mornings to help cook its weekly hot lunch. Professional cooks are welcome to apply, but full training will be given.
They would be expected to help on one Sunday per month. The role is supported by experienced kitchen helpers.
Other ad-hoc Sunday morning roles are also available for people to assist with the preparation of cakes and sandwiches for supper bags and to look after regular ‘drop ins’.
Prospective volunteers can contact Molly by emailing hello@encircles.org.
After a recent visit, John Glen, MP for Salisbury, said: “It was great to join the Encircles Team engaging with and feeding people in Salisbury and to witness the incredible kindness of Molly and her small team of volunteers.
“They could always do with a few more helpers.”
