A NINE year old conquered one of the UK's most popular mountain walking challenges to raise money for two Salisbury charities.
At the end of August, George Wells, 9, took on the challenge to climb the three peaks, which involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales: Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon, often in a short space of time.

George did this to raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Wiltshire Wildlife Hospital, due to the wildlife hospital's work with hedgehogs (his favourite animal) and from seeing the air ambulances fly over his home in Shrewton.
He chose these charities himself, "it was not really a discussion", his mum, Michelle, said.
George climbed Ben Nevis on August 16, Scafell Pike on August 21 and Snowdon on August 24, all in part of a road trip with his mum across the UK during the school summer holidays.
It was not an easy challenge for him, but each climb was rewarded with a meal and hot chocolate at the bottom.
His mum, Michelle, said: "The rush when you're climbing and achieving something for me, it was to build his confidence.
"You can climb these mountains for several hours, you can do it, and we have achieved it. We get to the bottom and his hand were freezing at the top of Ben Nevis, it was hard for him but said 'this is only short term, there's an end to this'."
With donations from friends and family to spur him on through, the combined total of 30.94kms and 16hrs 53 mins completed in one week saw George raise £563, spilt equally between the two charities.
His mum continued: "I am so proud, he has little legs and he's only nine and he's climbed so far. He was incredible, I could not believe it. He was amazing."
Since the challenge, George has gone on to tackle the Yorkshire three peaks with his mum.
