A developer has teamed up with a Scout group to improve their facilities.

Pennyfarthing Homes has collaborated with 1st Fordingbridge Scout Group to help create an accessible toilet and wet room in their headquarters.

The developer, which is building a housing development less than a mile from the town centre, said that this contribution is part of their commitment to "enriching the local community".

This follows a £4,000 donation made earlier in the year to Fordingbridge Infant and Junior School to fund various projects.

The financial contribution has been put towards making sure the 1st Fordingbridge Scouts can keep on providing these experiences to the town's youth.

By building an accessible toilet and wet room, the Scout group and Pennyfarthing Homes aim to make the facilities more "inclusive and welcoming" to everyone, regardless of physical ability.

This upgrade will make sure no young person is left out of the opportunities for learning, growth, and adventure that the Scout group offers.

Shirley Brookes, group lead volunteer of 1st Fordingbridge Scouts, said: "We are incredibly grateful to Pennyfarthing Homes for their support.

"This contribution, along with others we have received from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund which is delivered locally by New Forest District Council, from Fordingbridge Town Council and from the Rotary Club of Fordingbridge, makes a huge difference in ensuring that our facilities are accessible to all, allowing every young person in our Scout Group the chance to participate in the activities and adventures we offer."

"At Pennyfarthing Homes, we are focused on giving back to the local community, and this contribution will ensure that all young people, regardless of ability, can fully enjoy the wonderful opportunities that the Scouts offer."

Mr Dukes added: "The Scouts are passionate about fostering community spirit, and we are proud to play a role in helping them enhance their facilities to achieve this."

Whitsbury Green, the new development by Pennyfarthing Homes, is less than a mile from the centre of Fordingbridge.

The project includes a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes and bungalows, designed to fit in with the area's natural beauty and traditional village street scene.

The development also comes with a community play area and extensive public open space.

It is less than a 10-minute walk from Fordingbridge Primary School, with the secondary school and sixth form college under a mile away.

The developer said that this, along with a direct train to London taking just an hour and a half, makes Whitsbury Green "perfectly placed for families".

Homes at Whitsbury Green are priced from £390,000, with a range of incentives available for buyers.
