A MAN in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after a house fire in Codford.
He has been released under investigation while police enquiries are ongoing.
Around 35 firefighters tackled the blaze at a manor house on High Street after it was reported to the emergency services at 10.40pm on Thursday (October 31).
Fire crews were sent from Warminster, Wilton, Westbury, Salisbury and Amesbury.
Wiltshire Police launched a joint investigation with the Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service while work continued to make the house safe on Friday.
Police today confirmed that an arrest has been made.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We have arrested a man in his 60s on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life following a property fire in High Street, Codford, at 10.40pm last Thursday (31/10).
“He has been released under investigation while our enquiries continue.

On Friday, a spokesperson for Wilton Fire Station said: “Wilton crew were mobilised yesterday evening as part of the first response to a large domestic property fire in Codford.
“Upon arrival, the crew, together with a crew from Warminster Fire Station, found the roof of the Georgian Manor House well alight.
“Wilton crew returned back to station at around 03:15 the following morning.”
