SALISBURY started to embrace Christmas as November began in 1974.
Father Christmas was flanked by children as made an early appearance at the city's Debenhams store on November 2 with a sack full of presents.
Wilton's Cub group turned out en masse for the town's Bonfire Night, and Salisbury stopped to remember the fallen at its annual Remembrance parade.
Our archives also show local police constable Matthews being commended with a Bravery Award, Mr and Mrs Sibley celebrating their Diamond (60-year) wedding anniversary and the hospital's League of Friends hosting a fundraising fair.
