A TOWN saw a “spike” of offences on Halloween including assaults, fires and underage drinking, police have said.
Tidworth residents made reports throughout the evening (October 31) to their neighbourhood policing team about “incidents relating to young people”.
One girl drank so much alcohol that she ended up unconscious, and several unsupervised youngsters told police they had lied to their parents about their whereabouts.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “During the evening of Halloween, Tidworth experienced a spike in anti-social behaviour, fires, fireworks, underage drinking and other incidents relating to young people.
“One girl was left unconscious due to the amount of alcohol in her system.
“Ongoing assaults were reported throughout the evening to the neighbourhood team and PC Kinsey from Salisbury Response while on hotspot foot patrols.
“Many of the young people we have spoken to openly admit that they have lied to their parents saying they are at youth clubs or staying with friends.
“We would like everyone to enjoy celebrations like Halloween with respect for others but, if a crime has occurred, please continue to report incidents online or call 101 and 999 if a crime is ongoing.”
PC Kinsey said: “We're concerned that parents are unaware of what their children are up to late into the evening and that they are unsupervised and could be vulnerable.
“It is your parental responsibility to know where your children are and what they are doing.”
