A firework display that is 'something else' is coming to Sixpenny Handley this weekend.

On Saturday, November 2, the sky over Sixpenny Handley will be filled with world class pyrotechnics in 1st Woodcutts Scouts' annual firework display.

The firework night is known as being the biggest in the area and for its 22nd year, new effects will be part of the display.

Scout leader at 1st Woodcutts and part of the firework spectacular team Rob Easton said: "We are very lucky to have an amazing group of volunteers with a broad range of skills. It means we can put on a fantastic evening with food and entertainment that is hard to beat.

"For example, the cider served  on the bar is from award winning Cranborne Chase Cider,  founded by Bill Meaden, one of our former Scouts. The burgers and sausages on the BBQ are from the local butchers, Clarkes and Sons, and  Steve and Lee Judd at Church Farm Campsite generously allow us the use of the field, which is the perfect setting for the display".

A quiet display for younger children will take place at 6.30pm, before the main show at 7.30pm. The arena opens from 5.30pm for food and drink.

Rob added: "The display really is something else and every year we are approached by people visiting for the first time saying it is the best display they have ever seen. They are amazed that a small community in Dorset puts on a display rivalling those in large towns and cities.

"The ticket is for the whole evening, so people get to enjoy two displays for the price of one elsewhere".

Tickets for the evening can be purchased in advance from Budgens and Clarke the Butchers in Sixpenny Handley, and Chettle Shop as well as on entry on the night. Further information can be found here.
