A charity event successfully provided free prostate cancer tests for 153 men.

The Lions Club of Salisbury & District organised the testing day on Saturday, September 14.

They managed to offer the tests at no charge to participants, thanks to the funds they raised.

The club thanked St Francis Church, Will Case & Partners Amesbury Office and Graham Fulford Charitable Trust for their support.

According to the Lions Club, 140 men had "green" results, meaning no further action was required, seven had "amber" results, and were advised to contact their doctor, and six had "red" results, and were told to see their doctor.

The group is now looking to raise funds to hold another testing day, as they estimate it will cost £25 per test.

They said: "All we need to do now is to prepare for our next Cancer Testing Day by raising sufficient funds to repeat the activity for those unable to attend this time or wishing another test.

"We welcome any organisation or individual prepared to sponsor in part or whole another testing day."
