THE Rockbourne Fair has closed at Salisbury Racecourse after three days of shopping and dining to raise money for the district hospital's Stars Appeal charity.

Every year, the fair brings more than 100 independent boutiques to the venue, making it one of the most successful pre-Christmas markets in the south west.

The fair welcomed its first customers at 10am on Wednesday (October 16).

On Thursday, organisers said the fair was in “full swing” ahead of its late-night shopping event, which ran until 7.30pm to allow people to get there after work.

The proceeds from all tickets sold are donated to the Stars Appeal, plus a percentage of everything that is bought at the market and restaurant.

It is currently fundraising for a range of projects and facilities, such as 20 specialist cots for new-born babies for the labour and postnatal wards, a mechanical chest compression system for the emergency department and a dedicated room for women who experience a miscarriage early in their pregnancy to receive treatment in.
