POLICE are investigating after an “unknown suspect” stole bottles of wine worth £200 from a Co-op shop in Amesbury.

The suspect entered the store shortly after 4pm yesterday (Thursday, October 17) and picked up the bottles before leaving, having made no attempt to pay.

Officers have released a photograph of a man they would like to identify in connection with the incident.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers investigating a theft from Co-op Amesbury, in Salisbury Street, would like to identify the pictured male as they believe he can help with their enquiries.

“Shortly after 4pm on Thursday, an unknown suspect has entered the shop, selected bottles of wine to the value of £200 and left making no attempt to pay.

“If you recognise the man in the photograph or have any other information that could help our investigation please call 101 and quote crime reference number 54240122896.

“Alternatively, report information online through our website or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
