A SALISBURY woman who ‘fought suicidal thoughts and an abusive past’ and now runs the city's disability interest group (DIG) has contributed to a new book.

Kez Adey, 40, tells her story in Ripples of Positivity, an “empowering collection of stories from 28 remarkable women who share their journeys of resilience, hope and transformation”.

She is a familiar face to lots of people in Salisbury for her work with the DIG, an organisation she founded after failed surgery left her with chronic pain and living most of her life in a wheelchair.

In her role, she works with people who have experienced mental and physical health problems and alongside businesses to make the city more accessible.

Now, she hopes her story – which includes a PTSD diagnosis following an abusive relationship and details her passion for fighting for people with disabilities – will help anyone who is “feeling lost, alone or even fighting a medical journey.”

The book was compiled by Lisa Williams, a Rhyl-based business coach who Kez has worked with for several years, and features women from across the UK.

Each chapter offers a “unique perspective on overcoming challenges, finding inner strength and spreading positivity in a word that often feels overwhelming” as a “testament to how even the smallest ripple of positivity can create waves of change”.

“I've always been vocal about what I do. I thought it was an ideal opportunity to get it out there beyond the local community.

“The book goes into detail about how I took the positives from a PTSD diagnoses. It got me to where I am today.”

Ripples of Positivity will be available to purchase from Monday, October 21. Kez will attend a launch party with her fellow contributors in Birmingham on Sunday.
