A DRIVER failed to stop for the police after he narrowly avoided hitting a man who was crossing the road as he ran a red light in Salisbury.
Officers watched the incident take place on Devizes Road, near the Royal Oak pub, at 5.13pm on September 13.
The Ford Focus driver left at speed when an officer approached the vehicle.
Police say he was around 5ft 11 with dark hair and aged between 40 and 60 years old. He was wearing a dark jacket.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for witnesses after a driver continued through a red light and failed to stop for the police in Salisbury.
“The driver of a silver Ford Focus Zetec was travelling up Devizes Road towards Fugglestone Red at 5.13pm on September 13 when they drove through a red light outside the Royal Oak pub.
“They narrowly missed a man who was crossing the road.
“This was seen by police officers who were waiting to pull onto Devizes Road from Queen Alexandra Road.
“When the officer approached the car, the driver drove off at speed.”
