Salisbury Playhouse will host the UK premiere of a jazz-infused musical this autumn.
Play On!, inspired by Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and set in the 1940s New York jazz scene, will be at the Salisbury venue from October 21 to November 2.
The show, featuring a Duke Ellington score, is produced by Talawa Theatre Company, the UK's leading Black theatre company, in partnership with the Belgrade Theatre Coventry, and is part of the 2024 Black Joy season.
The star-studded cast includes Tsemaye Bob-Egbe, Kori Hedgemon, Earl Gregory, Llewellyn Jamal, Cameron Bernard Jones, Lifford Shillingford, Tanya Edwards and Gleanne Purcell-Brown.

Directed by Michael Buffong, with choreography by Kenrick Sandy and musical supervision by Liam Godwin, the musical tells the story of a young songwriter who disguises herself as a man to navigate a male-dominated music industry.
As she becomes entangled with the club owner and singer Lady Liv, the narrative unfolds with a blend of melodies, mistaken identities, and romance.
The show is committed to providing opportunities for mid-career global majority talent to work on a large-scale production and tour.
