A Salisbury company is helping to combat sight loss by raising hundreds of pounds to help train guide dogs.
The Salisbury and District Branch of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association raised a grand total of £409.86 at the Boots in Salisbury, but the amount raised pales with the current cost of training a dog.
Training a guide dog can cost more than £38,000 and, with over 2 million people in the UK affected with sight loss, they are sorely needed.
Statistics show that one in five of us will experience sight loss in their lifetime, according to the NHS.

Pete Pattison, manager of Boots Salisbury said: “As a company, we are pleased to support such a worthwhile local charity.
"There is always a great atmosphere when the dogs and their owners visit the store."
Guide dogs can play a crucial role in supporting individuals to live a full and independent life, but they can only do this with the generosity of the general public.
