18 businesses across Salisbury have been handed new food hygiene ratings.  

Each week, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) inspects businesses across the country, assessing hygiene and safety, structural compliance and confidence in management.  

Across the UK, every food outlet including convenience stores, restaurants, hospitals and care homes are given a hygiene rating.   

What each hygiene rating means:   

0 - Urgent improvement necessary     

1 - Major improvement necessary      

2 - Some improvement necessary      

3 - Hygiene standards generally satisfactory        

4 - Hygiene standards good      

5 - Hygiene standards very good    

Restaurants, cafes and canteens

The following ratings have been given to restaurants, cafes or canteens:

Rated 5:

  • Fountain Cafe at Salisbury Medical Practice Fisherton House Fountain Way, Salisbury; rated on September 16
  • Angel Corner Tea Room at Angel Corner Angel Lane, Mere; rated on September 12

  • Costa Coffee at Starbucks Coffee Dolphin Trading Estate Southampton Road, Salisbury; rated on September 5

  • Les Mirabelles at Forest Edge Forest Road, Nomansland; rated on September 5

  • Ministry of Food Hampshire, Wilton Cafe at Wilton House, Wilton; rated on September 2

  • Starbucks at Starbucks, West Knoyle; rated on September 2

Rated 4: 

  • Borough Cafe, 70 The Borough, Downton was also given a score of four on August 22.

Rated 1:

  • Homebazaaruk Ltd (Armans Art Design) at 18-19 The Maltings, Salisbury; rated on August 13
